I was at a wine dinner recently and tried this wine--it was great. It was paired with a salad with pears, celery, fennel, and citrus dressing. The wine really brought all of the flavors together. I think it is "nearly naked" because it is mostly organic.

2006 Snoqualmie Nearly Naked Gewurztraminer

I recently tried this "mostly organic" wine with a juicy asian pear, fennel and celery salad with coppa salami wrapped sauteed green apple and a citrus dressing. It was a fantastic pairing. Full of fruit flavor and great balance with the salty coppa meat too. I felt the wine accentuated the pear flavors in the salad and offered a bit of spice actually when I bit into a bite of crunchy celery. I think this wine is a very good value for what it is. My husband agreed that the wine tasted full of fruit and not a mouthful of sugar syrup- he said, honey not sugar- to which I agreed. I never knew that a Geweurtz could give off spicy components, and I was pleasantly surprised how well this white wine paired with a sweet salami too! I reccommend trying out a non-organic compared to this "mostly organic" wine and see what you think. A good buy.

Snoqualmie 2006 Nearly Naked Gewürztraminer

Have you ever found yourself saying, “There’s nothing like a good Gewürztraminer!” No? Well then, here’s a good place to start. Not as spicy as some traditional Gewürztraminers, this offering shows plenty of soft fruit and floral notes, which makes for a very drinkable alternative. Especially for those just starting to experiment with new varietals.
With a nose full of zesty citrus, sweet apricot, golden apples and fresh cut grass it’s about as close as you can come to bottling Spring. Similar refreshing flavors follow with juicy layers of citrus, apricot, apple, and orange, which glide smoothly over the tongue. The finish is clean and crisp with a lingering flavor of candied lemon drops.
This wine uses “minimal non-organic production methods” so it has received the designation of Nearly Naked as opposed to the full on Naked label.
